We kicked off the morning with some insightful discussions between the entrepreneurs in the Zoom Breakout Room networking session. Attendees discussed “What important truth do very few people agree with you on?” It was a quick opportunity to connect with new faces and reconnect with familiar ones before we dove into the Startup Convos.
This month’s presenter lineup was one for the books:
Katie Hotze, the Founder and CEO of Shopii, presented their marketing enablement technology that connects food brands and retailers with shoppable recipe solutions. Shopii's technology allows users to easily add recipes to their cart in two clicks, while also providing retailers with a new revenue channel through retail media partnerships. Katie explained that their company digitalized the meal kit subscription model by partnering with neighborhood grocers. Shopii is currently looking to expand their retailer partnerships in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.
Mitch Alterman, Co-Founder and CEO of Hatched Dating discussed the current state of the dating app industry, highlighting its lack of innovation. The Hatched founders recognized the need for a new concept that allows users to showcase their personality and compatibility rather than solely relying on pictures, in order to address the negative impact of swipe-based dating apps on mental health.
Mitch went on to explain how the Hatched app works, where users create profiles with egg avatars and answer personality questions to gradually reveal more about their matches. The app gamifies users experience by hatching eggs based on shared answers, allowing users to progress and engage with compatible matches.
Mitch then discussed the measures taken by Hatched to address fake profiling and ensure user safety, including organic filtering, AI software for moderation, identity verification, and a robust reporting system.
Alex Edquist - Founder and CEO of Good Agriculture, discussed how their platform helps farmers by taking care of administrative tasks. The Good Agriculture technology aims to alleviate the stress and time constraints faced by farmers, ultimately improving their profitability and promoting sustainable farming practices. Alex explained marketing tactics that have contributed to Good Agriculture's success. Digital marketing, exhibiting at farmer conferences, and word of mouth referrals have all aided in lead generation for the startup. Good Agriculture is currently fundraising for a pre-seed round to reach profitability and they look to expand their platform.
