Our first Atlanta Healthcare Entrepreneur Meetup of 2021 was filled with great insight and lots of wisdom from a founder with over 20 years of experience.
On Wednesday, February 10, HealthIT folks joined us virtually for a conversation with A.T. Gimbel, Partner at Atlanta Ventures, and Shane Jackson, President at Jackson Healthcare.
These Meetups are part of an ongoing series of talks about Healthcare in Atlanta, with an objective of making Atlanta the premier place to start and grow a HealthIT business. The goal of these meetups is to facilitate connections, hear from industry professionals, and truly dig deeper into Healthcare problems that Atlanta entrepreneurs can help solve.

The morning kicked off with over 50 entrepreneurs diving into breakout room sessions. Here, they discussed the question: “In an ideal world how many times a week would you want to be in the office?”, as well as other current industry trends. Next, A.T. and Shane talked about his background and decisions to get into healthcare, culture at Jackson Healthcare, advice for healthcare entrepreneurs, and much more.
Start with a problem
A business is a solution to the problem. Your customer has something they need solved.
“The main thing is to just really understand the problem, and keep asking why, why, why doesn't that work? After that, the solution becomes very evident.”
Focus
Laser focus on the problem you’re trying to solve and don’t get distracted.
“It’s really tough to distinguish between an adjacency and a distraction.”
Culture is Key
Establish core values and use those values to drive all our decisions.
“We are forthright and transparent about our values. We want everyone to know those and know that we are super serious about it.”
“Growth is big for us. We have a risk free environment. We don't punish mistakes. If you punish failure, you get rid of innovation.”
Advice for future HealthIT entrepreneurs
“You need to have a lot of resilience! This is one of the toughest industries to start a business.”
