ABOUT THE EVENT
To kick off the morning, Ryan discussed his background in document management and how he got into healthcare entrepreneurship. He shared his experience in building a startup that had a meaningful impact on humankind and how it led him to start Florence Healthcare with his co-founders.
Florence Healthcare advances cures for disease by enabling clinical trial sites to do their best work. Florence’s Site Enablement Platform brings sponsor-site collaboration to life. By designing a platform around sites’ needs and enabling them to do their best work, Florence frees clinical trials from bottlenecks, so they can accelerate and scale.
"When it comes to co-founders, have passion for the problem, because it’s so hard, and everyone that’s working on a startup knows how hard it is. If only one person has passion and the other is like a contractor, that just isn’t going to work."
Key Takeaways From The Event:
- Pick an idea where you have domain expertise and can have an impact
- Find co-founders who are passionate about the idea and can sell or code
- Vet an idea in customer discovery by playing back their problem and asking if they have budget; prove Product-Market Fit by being able to generate a sales pipeline with defined and reasonable conversion metrics
"...it’s a bravery around shipping, that’s really the secret. In startups, if you’re not either building product or selling product, your role is not that important."
